Training that's a reward, not a punishment

Your team is already brilliant and you don't want them to hate you for bringing in a stranger with a three hour powerpoint presentation. Or they're new and you can't afford to scare them off so soon with outward bound/fancy dress/other frightening/humiliating activity. Perhaps they're individually brilliant but aren't utilising each others' strengths properly and the Christmas party just isn't cutting it.

I get it. I've been there.

Believe it or not you can celebrate your staff and challenge them at the same time. You can bring in activities that feel rewarding without being wasteful, that push your staff to open up personally without making them feel professionally uncomfortable.

Training that relies on long presentations and dry sandwiches or worse, painful or embarassing outings that aren't for everyone are not the answer. Put. Down. The. Paintball. Gun.

I can make your team aware of their strengths as individuals and as a group, enhance those skills, develop new ones and make sure they value and enjoy their time. Sound impossible? It isn't. Let's talk today about how you can celebrate your successes and get the best out of your business.

Every training program I make is bespoke to the needs of your business. If that's a celebratory company conference for over one hundred staff or a creative-skills workshop for a team of six, I put the needs of your business into the heart of what I do.

Creativity Skills looks at problem solving in a relaxed environment that lets everyone's ideas have equal value. If your staff aren't comfortable coming forward and challenging the status quo then you're losing money and they're losing a sense of value. Generating ideas together builds rapport and floods fun back into something that is more than just their 'day job'. When your ideas and not just valued, but called for day to day then that's your calling.

Theatre Skills: Do you run a youth group, nursery, care home or other facility where you provide a community of people with activities? I can get you confident in delivering drama activities, story telling or games to suit your needs. Whether or not you already have experience of theatre, I can walk you through the excercises you need to succeed at a pace that suits you and your team. Alternatively, I can also run sessions directly for your participants.

Researcher Training

“Lisa’s artistic talent is matched by her high level of emotional intelligence and intellectual ability…she can motivate both reticent academic scientists and unfettered two year-olds, understanding what each needs with ease…Lisa quickly grasping a wide range of scientific concepts and identifying the hook that could be used to draw an audience in.

In sum, Lisa is a very talented visual theatre artist, and one of the few people I know that I would trust with both my academics and my son! I do hope you select The Heist for funding.”

- Sarah Anderson, Beltane Public Engagement

Customer interaction training

“The training in November turned out to be a huge success. The staff were very happy and took your comments on board. In general, you gave us valuable advice on how to set the mood during morning briefings by playing short games, and you also gave us some tips on how to better interact with customers and each other. In our kind of business these recommendations are very useful and your advice will definitely improve our team building activities. All in all, the training aided in improving the communication amongst everyone.”

– Edinburgh's Camera Obscura and World of Illusion

Creativity Skills workshop

“Lisa conducted a team-building workshop for my team recently focused on creativity... We sit in a very small office so one would think we know each other very well but I was amazed by the number of skills my colleagues have demonstrated throughout the workshop. Lisa led the activities in a very relaxed and friendly manner while making sure everyone was comfortable and used their imagination to it’s fullest. Among many excercises a creativity exercise about “how to use a paperclip,” continued with a transformed game of charades and ended by creating a map of the world! We spent a couple of hours having loads of fun and learnt many useful things about each other that we can definitely use when making the company and the office a better place!”

– Andrea, Zomato

Theatre Skills

“Very useful workshop and done in a very accessible way. Lisa herself is lovely and allows you to relax into it…it was a really accessible journey" – Catherine, Theatre Maker

“A whistle stop tour of facilitating” – Joshua, Young Arts Leader

“Learning new exercises, ways of facilitation and embracing the way I express myself as a facilitator” – Colleen, Young Arts Leader

“Lisa built trust within the group very well” – Hayley, University of Edinburgh
